Streets of Havana

 

For almost 60 years Cubans have been living under an embargo. It has been changed in several areas, but ordinary Cubans are still experiencing poverty and lack of many goods.

In Cuba's capital of Havana houses are being renovated. But only the big, beautiful hotels that are being renovated. Those who are to get Western tourists to travel to the country. In the old part of Havana the population doesn’t see a lot of the tourists' money. Here they still live in great poverty in old and crumbling buildings. People begging for money and a lot of young girls earn their money in prostitution. Although Cubans are a fun-loving people, you feel the depression, when you walk through Havana's old streets. Many people lack basic necessities, sewage water flows freely in many places and many seem to have lost the courage to fight.
